| A pictorial log of our longest weekend flying so far.
FS2002 scenery is stunning, with great lighting effects, although many hours were
spent this weekend over miles of sea and desert. With up to 20Kt tail winds most
of the way we made it in good time, stopping overnight in Hurgauda, Egypt.
There were no technical problems at all,
although we were a bit light on fuel when we arrived in Kuwait -
probably ten minutes flying left!
Our route took us south across the Med and into Egypt, landing at Hurgauda for an overnight stop. A dawn start over the Red Sea to Sharm El Sheikh, then some mountainous desert for a quick fuel stop in Tabuk, a very hot and high airport. Once refueled, we were quickly into the air, and faced just over 700nm of desert to Kuwait International. The tail winds made it possible to attempt such a long leg, but we had the option of landing at Rafha should fuel be short. In the event, we landed safely in Kuwait with both tanks just about empty, probably enough to carry out one go-around! |
